As a transformational coach I work mainly with women in their midlife who are ready to make the kind of changes that align with the deeper truth of who they are now. I believe that this chapter can be the best one yet, where we get to honor all that we are and all that we still want to be. We feel the passing of time, and we know that this is it, if we don't take the steps that will help us feel free, joyful and on-purpose, when will we?

It took a lot of inner work and help for me to get here and stand before you open, raw, and oh-so-myself. For years I have held back and kept small because I cared so much what others thought of me. There was a lot of shame for me around being seen, both in my gifts and my vulnerability. Vulnerability to me felt like a weakness, and I prided myself on being strong, resourceful, and I’m-ok-I-don’t-need-you kind of gal. But that was just my own flavor of hiding; masking my true feelings, ignoring my needs, and tucking away my true self, so scary to share lest I be rejected.

And I know I’m not alone. I’ve sat with so many of you in this same tender place. I’ve seen the shame that comes from feeling like you should have it all figured out by now, and the belief that something must be wrong with you because you don’t. I’ve witnessed the courage it takes to reach out from the depths of your pain and say, "Help. I need help".

And in that soft, brave act of letting ourselves be seen, we begin to rewrite the story. Not one of shame, but of courage. Not of failure, but of fierce, human truth.
